The Pennsylvania Poconos is a range of the Appalachian system located in the Northeast corner of Pennsylvania bounded by the Delaware River on the east the Blue Ridge Mountains at the northern end of the Lehigh Valley and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the North and the Lehigh River on the west. The area is mountainous in nature with many creeks, streams and rivers providing many opportunities for waterfalls. The area is made of Wayne, Pike, Monroe and eastern Carbon Counties. The Poconos was part of the notorious Walking Purchase of 1737 negotiated between Thomas Penn and the Delaware Indians.
