Bald Eagles at the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, Cambridge Maryland. Blackwater was established in 1933 as a waterfowl sanctuary for migratory birds for the migration highway called the Atlantic Flyway. Blackwater consists of over 25,000 acres of freshwater impounds, brackish tidal wetlands, open field and evergreen and deciduous forests.
